Julia Brooker

Julia Brooker lives and works in Wales. A mature student at Cheltenham Art College, graduating in 2000, her previous career was in property construction.

Her paintings are made using many layers of acrylic paint on aluminium sheet. Her work is abstract, sensual, contemporary, and deceptively simple.

'I fell in love with aluminium…. how it reflects light through veils of colour. I love colour and light. They excite me like a child in a sweet shop. I am always looking, thinking about, even dreaming about colour and paint. I hope that my paintings stop people for a few minutes and that they just want to stop and quietly look."

The Chairman of the Arts Council of Wales opened her first solo exhibition in 2002 and the Council have funded several of her exhibitions. She has exhibited widely throughout the UK, in Stuttgart and Moscow.

Julia has been commissioned by art collectors and corporate clients in the UK, Tokyo, Dusseldorf, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Hong Kong, Shanghai and Buenos Aires.
